Professional development:

I am a big advocate of professional development. Here is just a sampling of some of my activities since launching my freelance career in 2005.

March 2009 - Attended the MICATA Symposium in Kansas City and participated in a panel discussion on getting started in translation.

November 2008 - Attended the ATA conference in Orlando

September 2008 - Elected to the MICATA board of directors

June 2008 - Started a translation blog. Please stop by and let me know what you think.

June 2008 - Authored the feature article for the June issue of the ATA Chronicle on opportunities in the field of environmental translation.

March 2008 - Presented a paper on environmental translation at the annual MICATA Symposium in Oklahoma City.

November 2007-  Attended the ATA Annual Conference in San Francisco.

December 2006 -  Wrote an article for interaktiv about the ATA Annual Conference in New Orleans, which I attended in November 2006.

August 2006, - Authored an article entitled "How to deal with your techno-trash" for the MICATA Monitor, the newsletter of my local translators' association.

July 2006 - April 2009: Sat on the editorial team of interaktiv, the newsletter of ATA's German Language Division.
